BLOOMINGTON, IN - On June 27th-30th, 2023, over 200 scholars from more than 30 countries traveled to Bloomington for the 22nd Association for Cultural Economics International (ACEI) conference. This 4-day conference was hosted by the Center for Cultural Affairs (CCA) and took place at the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs on the Indiana University Bloomington campus. The itinerary featured panel discussions, plenaries, keynotes, and paper presentations from visiting scholars.
Keynote speakers for the conference included Michael Rushton, Professor at the O’Neill School, Luigi Guiso, Professor at the Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance in Italy, Stephen Heblich, Professor and Munk Chair at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy in Toronto, Canada, and Trine Bille, Professor at Copenhagen Business School and ACEI President.
Outside of academic discourse, the ACEI conference also featured an opening reception at the Gayle Karch Cook Center in IU’s Maxwell Hall and a Gala dinner at Columbus Commons in Columbus, Indiana. Bill Ivey, former Chair of the National Endowment for the Arts, spoke at the Gala reception. Conference participants also enjoyed touring several local cultural institutions including the Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Museum of Art, the IU Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, and Kirkwood Observatory.
